A Look Ahead: Anime St. Pete

St. Petersburg, Florida is getting another first with Anime St. Pete, the city's first-ever anime convention

Anime St. Pete is a two-day celebration that honors anime and the cosplay it inspires. The event, set for September 17-18 at the Coliseum, is St. Petersburg’s first anime convention, and gives fans the opportunity to dive into Japanese media while bonding with the community.

Guests include anime voice actors, voice directors, and creators as well as a roster of Florida’s top anime cosplayers. The first guest announcement is anime voice actor Aaron Dismuke, who voices popular characters in beloved anime shows like My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Fruits Basket. Learn more about him in a blog by Florida Comic Cons.

In addition, Anime St. Pete 2022 features back-to-back panel discussions on anime topics only nerds can appreciate like Anime Trivia and Shonen Protagonists: Then vs Now. Furthermore, there are numerous activities per day like a lip sync competition and scavenger hunt. Moreover, there are two cosplay contests -- Saturday is 'Craftsmanship' and Sunday is 'Runway' -- with worthy prizes. And (we're not done yet, there's more!), there's even a fan art competition.
