Celeb Guest Voice Actors

Three big-name anime voice actors -- Erica Schroeder, Mike McFarland, and Sarah Wiedenheft -- attracted large crowds to St. Pete Comic Con 2021. Schroeder had never been a guest at a convention in Florida, and McFarland had not appeared in The Sunshine State in nearly five years. And the long lines of fans to visit with them was proof of their popularity. They voice beloved characters in popular shows like Dragon Ball, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Before meeting the voice actor, talk to the handler

To help the voice actors manage the crowds of fans who want signatures and photos, each has a 'handler.' This is the first person you see when approaching voice actors at a convention. The handler greets con attendees, snaps photos, coordinates signatures, and takes payments.

And the coolest part is the handler gets to work all day, side-by-side, with the anime voice actor.

"It was quite the surreal experience to snap a photo of a cosplayer, while hearing the voice of Buggy from One Piece echoing in the distance," said @ManaTCosplay, Associate Editor of Florida Cosplay Digital Magazine who was the handler for Sarah Wiedenheft. "I had a phenomenal time assisting Sarah all day!"

Our Associate Editor is also a talented cosplayer, seen in photo left portraying Asmodeus from Obey Me.

And between photos and signatures, Wiedenheft, also an artist, doodled one of her characters, Zeno from DragonBall Super, on a coffee cup (photo right). Here's her Etsy if you want Wiedenheft art or merch.
