Cosplayer

Narciso Anasui

Named after the fashion designer, Narciso Anasui is a supporting character in anime and manga series Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. Anasui is intensely romantically interested in the season's protagonist, Jolyen Cujoh. Though typically not a team player, Anasui will put his own safety at risk for Jolyne.

@Veronasroses

"I just feel so powerful when I cosplay Anasui and feel like I get a lot of great reactions when I meet Jolyne cosplayers at conventions! It’s also a cosplay I feel pretty known for!"

"I've fallen for her. From the first time I saw her, completely. And now, to go to the punishment ward for her father... her determination completely won me over. If I can protect her until the end... I'm going to marry her."

Cosplayer background

"Cosplaying is something that gives me a little bit of a breather from the real world. It helps me share my art and skills that I’ve learned over the years, and helped me make new friends who share the same interests and values that I do!"

-@Veronasroses

@Veronasroses’s first cosplay was Dipper Pines from the cartoon series Gravity Falls. She wore it initially to Halloween, but ended up taking it to her first ever convention, Megacon, in 2014. One of @Veronasroses’s first experiences with cosplay was her friends wearing cosplays from the anime Ouran High School Host club to school.

@Veronasroses started learning about anime from her friends in middle school. Some of their friends had already been going to conventions, and @Veronasroses wanted in on the action. And in she got! @Veronasroses has met many people through cosplay, some of which have continued to be among her closest friends.

@Veronasroses is looking forward to improving her craftsmanship in the coming year. She is looking to make more handmade pieces, something she has been slowly working towards. This past year she made her first full cosplay. She is looking forward to making more complex outfits and learning from friends who are willing to help her hone her skills!

Hanako

Toilet-Bound Kanako-Kun

Hanako is the mischievous title character of anime and manga series Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun. Hanako is one of the ghosts that haunts Kamome Academy, and he grants wishes. Cheerful and outgoing, Hanako is one of the "Seven Mysteries" of the school. Hanako can come off as a flippant prankster, but the other supernatural elements of the school fall in line behind him. He is playful and likes to tease.

Also pictured is a Mokke, a supernatural creature that haunts the school. The Mokke love candy.

Daki

Demon Slayer

Daki is one of the focal villains in anime and manga series Demon Slayer. She fights with her brother, Gyutaro, and was a worker in the entertainment district. One of the most powerful demons, Daki is very confident in her abilities and dismissive of the demon slayers she faces.

@Veronasroses made nearly all of her Daki cosplay. She felt it was better to make the cosplay herself since it is a revealing outfit and she would have better control of the fit and materials. @Veronasroses learned a lot about wig styling from the process, as she had to dismantle and reassemble the wig.

Cosplayer general info

@Veronasroses is a 22-year-old student going to college for teaching who has been cosplaying for over ten years.

Favorite Conventions

"Metrocon has always been one of my favorite conventions because it was always the one closest to home! Growing up, Metrocon was the one con I could not miss out on and had to go to for at least one day. They always have some of the most entertaining events, creative mascots, and great cosplayers that attend!"

Advice For New Cosplayers

"Just go for it! Take a character you really like and closet cosplay the hell out of them! Grab anything that could work from your closet or try finding what you need at thrift stores! That’s a great way to really get your foot in the door within cosplay without spending your whole life savings on pre-made outfits."
